Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Marcedes Lewis is officially out of today's game.
The Jaguars’ road to their second win will be a little more difficult on Sunday when they face the Jets without tight end Marcedes Lewis.
That according to Fox Sports Insider, NFL Network Contributor Jay Glazer, who reported early Sunday that Jacksonville coach Jack Del Rio is playing it safe with Lewis, who is dealing with a strained calf.
That is a tough blow for the Jaguars. Lewis had 58 catches, 700 yards, and 10 touchdows a year ago. His position was one of the few spots where Jacksonville was going to have a clear matchup edge today since the Jets' starters at linebacker and safety are less than stellar in coverage. He was also a big and relatively safe target for Luke McCown, who could have problems against the strange blitz packages the Jets will throw at him.
