Report: New York Jets Will Not Re-Sign James Ihedigbo

New, comments

Dennis Waszak reports James Ihedigbo will not be back with the Jets.

The will not re-sign , a source tells the AP, so the hard-hitting safety will be playing elsewhere this season.

It would have been nice to see Digs back. He is a good special teamer, a good blitzer, and raw talent. I also love his trademark air digging celebration when he makes a big play. The re-signing of Brodney Pool made this close to inevitable, though. The Jets have really good depth at safety now.

I do not think any from the four man rotation of Pool, Eric Smith, Jim Leonhard, and Dwight Lowery is headed for the Pro Bowl. Combined, though, the group has a diverse mix of talent. This is a deep group of good players. It took away any need to bring back Digs and try and develop him into more of a regular at his position.
