That is a difficult thing to happen to Payne. Even if there is no broken bone, a dislocated wrist can be very serious. Brian Urlacher missed the rest of the 2009 season after sustaining the injury Week 1. There is no indication Payne's injury is that serious, but he is not out of the woods yet.
The obvious potential roster beneficiaries are Dan DePalma and Patrick Turner. Payne had the look of a valuable special teamer. He was involved in a lot of plays on coverage units, and the Jets are looking to replace a couple of valuable guys on these units, Brad Smith and James Ihedibgo. For his sake, I hope the injury is not too severe.
