The New York Jets Might Want to Make the Preseason Opener a Short Night for Mark Sanchez

After Nick Mangold's minor injury yesterday, the Jets might be wise to limit Mark Sanchez's snaps in the preseason opener against the Texans Monday. Mangold might very well be ready to go, but Brandon Moore, who started camp on the PUP list, does not seem like a good bet to play.

If Mangold cannot go, the offensive line from center to right tackle will be Robert Turner, Vladimir Ducasse, and Wayne Hunter. That is not exactly the Mangold, Moore, Woody trio from a year ago. Even if Mangold can play, the Jets are probably going to be starting a pair of linemen who were backups a year ago.

It would be nice to get Mark Sanchez on a roll in preseason. It would also be nice to see him build chemistry with his new wide receivers in a game situation. The most important thing, though, is to keep him healthy. If the offensive line is under siege, let Mark Brunell or Greg McElroy serve as pinata.
