Over the course of the offseason, many have suggested that the Jets might have to choose between getting a duo of Santonio Holmes and Antonio Cromartie or one of Braylon Edwards and Nnamdi Asomugha. I did not agree. Part of it was that I thought people were selling short how much Edwards was going to command in free agency. The other part was that I thought Asomugha would command so much that the Jets might not be able to get either receiver.
Now the Jets have Holmes locked up no matter what and are in hot pursuit of Asomugha. There might be a different choice. The Jets might have to choose between Edwards and Cromartie or Asomugha and a cheap option at receiver like Randy Moss.
My preference would be for the Asomugha/Moss combo. I think Edwards is better than Moss, but for one year Moss could do comparable things. You'd lose something, but the gain from subbing Asomugha for Cromartie would more than make up for it. Nnamdi dominates consistently. Cromartie dominates at times and is terrible at other times.
What do you think?
