The Jets are serious about getting Nnamdi Asomugha, but the 49ers are in play.

Michael Lombardi of NFL Network reports that the Jets’ main competition for Asomugha right now is San Francisco, and the 49ers are in it strong.

The Niners have a need and a lot of money to spend. They can also offer him something the Jets cannot, a chance to not have to uproot himself since San Francisco is so close to Oakland, Nnamdi's team through his career.

Some players on the Jets are apparently willing to rework their deals to create cap space necessary to sign the corner.

At this point, the Jets are all in trying to sign an elite player. Even if that financially means the end of secondary guys like Bryan Thomas or LaDainian Tomlinson, it would be worth it.
