Friday Signing Date Is Irrelevant

New, comments

You might have seen that while players may start talking to team tomorrow, no contracts may officially be signed until Friday. This is irrelevant. It only refers to the time a deal can officially be submitted. Contracts can be agreed to. The framework can be reached. The NBA has similar rules. You can tell a team you are going to sign with them. The rules just delay physically signing the paperwork.

We might find out tomorrow that certain guys are coming to the Jets or leaving for other teams. Things are not going to be on hold or going in slow speed. The rubber is really going to start hitting the road tomorrow. Certain guys are likely to be either won or lost very quickly.

If there is good news for Jets fans, it is that Mike Tannenbaum likes to be assertive. He usually gets a man he wants in very short time.
