Rex Ryan can go overboard in praise of his players. This might have been one of those times.
Rex Ryan predicted Revis would surpass legends Joe Namath, Don Maynard, Curtis Martin and the rest in Jets history.
"One day we're going to say that this is the best Jet in the history of the New York Jet franchise," Ryan said. "I believe that. And I think we're going to also see him in Canton one day."
There is strong sentiment that Namath's career was vastly overrated and he lacks legitimate Hall of Fame credentials. We have tried to debunk these claims here on GGN multiple times to display Namath is worthy of his legendary status due to his on field accomplishments. Due to the nature of the game, it is going to be difficult for a corner to ever go down as a bigger success than a Hall of Fame championship quarterback.
Although he currently lacks the track record, my money is on Mark Sanchez if any current Jet ever eclipses Namath, and Mark has a very long way to go for that.
