Today's news on the proposed CBA might very well show how serious the owners are about resolving the lockout and their claims they want in good faith to end the lockout. The figures in this deal are striking. The share the players would receive is 48% of revenue.
What kind of a sacrifice is this? The old CBA had the players taking 60%. Remember, the players are the ones putting their bodies on the line. People pay money to the league because of their talent. NFL players on average suffer significant health problems relative to the general population.
That seems like quite a concession, considering owners are getting extra insurance in deals for stadiums to make stadiums that generate major revenue for them less risky. If the owners do not accept the deal, it is going to get really, really tough to defend them, and it has not been that easy to begin with.
