The league was able to get a "stay" in the ruling against the league, which pretty much means the league will be back in lockout mode until the appeal is heard. Adam Schefter tweeted the news earlier.
Motion for temp stay granted. Lockout back on.
At least the commissioner wants to see football again, like he has been claiming. That is why the league tried and succeeded getting the lockout reimposed, right?
In other news, the Draft is continuing. A couple of division rivals took cornerbacks. The Patriots took Ras-I Dowling from Virginia. The Bills took Aaron Williams. Both were a bit surprising. Brandon Harris remains on the board, the corner from Miami who some had as a first rounder.
Dowling is pretty good moving laterally in short space, which would probably make him a fit for the Pats. They have Devin McCourty and Leigh Bodden, who will return from injury, as starters. Dowling will probably be the nickel. It is somewhat surprising they did not go for a more immediate need, but they do pick thrice more tonight.
The Bills' pick was another one that was striking. They need playmakers. I know they could use a corner, but they did have a pass defense near the top of the league. Some say Williams' best spot is safety, and they are not in bad shape there. Then again, these guys could be the next Revis and Asomugha.
In other news, pass rushing outside linebacker candidates are flying off the board. Jabaal Sheard, Akeem Ayers, and Brooks Reed are now gone. It looks like if the Jets pick a guy, it will be from the next tier. Under the jump is a list of second round picks to the moment.
Use this as a new Draft thread.
