Jon Baldwin Says Darrelle Revis Is His Mentor

NFL Draft prospect Jon Baldwin, a wide receiver from Pittsburgh, said current Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis and former Jets cornerback Ty Law are among his mentors.

"People from Aliquippa, Darrelle Revis and Ty Law. After the combine I'll be working with Darrelle, doing one-on-ones and press release and things like that. Darrelle Revis is one of the best corners in the game. So doing what I’m sure will help me get ready for the next level of cornerbacks."

Keeping this kind of company will not hurt his stock one word gets out. This also will give the Jets an inside look if they are thinking of taking Baldwin. Revis will be able to provide them with a good scouting report on exactly what Baldwin does well and what he does not do well. Just as important, he can give them information on the kind of person Baldwin is.

Revis will not likely be shy with his appraisals. He has been vocal this offseason about wanting the team to resign his fellow cornerback Antonio Cromartie and trade for his friend Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson. While Revis' word will probably not be the final one, every bit of information Mike Tannenbaum gets on a prospect will make it more likely he makes the right decision on Draft day.
