GGN Mock Pick #20 Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Cameron Heyward, Defensive End, Ohio State

The Bucs are coming off of a very successful regular season in which they finished 10-6 but missed the playoffs. They have a seriously bright future ahead of them. Their number one priority going into the 2011 draft will be defensive line, and I like Hayward going to them at #20.

Last draft, the Bucs took their stud Nose Tackle, Gerald Mccoy at #3 overall. Mccoy didn't have the most impressive season last year, but this was truly because he didn't have sufficient talent around him on the D-Line. Heyward might be a bit of a reach at #20, but most mock drafts have him off the board by the end of the first round. Heyward truly broke out at Ohio State his past two years, and he is an all-round athlete. CBS sports describes him as the type of player who can line up just about anywhere and pressure the QB. He has great strength and speed, and can figure out ways to get to the QB. He also plays the run extremely well, and is known as a solid tackler. He is also a threat to pick one off, as he had an 80 yard Interception return for a TD in the game against Miami. His intangibles are superb, seeing how he was elected team captain in his senior year. He has a great attitude and work ethic, something that I'm sure head coach Raheem Morris loves in his players.

Overall, Heyward would really upgrade the Bucs D-line and give them more talent to work with McCoy in the middle. As a Jet fan, I really want this guy at #30, but I highly doubt he will still be there.
