Green Bay Packers Defeat Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV

The Green Bay Packers are Super Bowl Champions. The Pack defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV tonight 31-25. This is the fourth Super Bowl win in franchise history. Pittsburgh falls to 6-2 in its Super Bowl history.

How did the Packers beat the Steelers? They did a lot of things the Jets failed to do in the AFC Championship Game. They contained Ben Roethlisberger in the pocket. They took advantage of Pittsburgh's mistakes. They finished drives. Watching this game had to be frustrating for any Jets fan. Gang Green played a miserable AFC title game and was still a few plays away from winning. This Pittsburgh team was mortal.

At any rate, I feel very happy for Aaron Rodgers. There may have never been a longer shadow in the history of sports than the one Brett Favre left in Green Bay. Rodgers handled it with class, even when Favre's act in 2008 provided him with endless distractions.Amazing things can happen when a team develops a franchise quarterback and waits for him to grow. I also feel happy for veterans like Donald Driver and Chad Clifton who have waited so long to win it all. Then there is former Jet Howard Green who made a big play.

Congratulations to the Packers and their fans. Maybe one day we will get to celebrate like they get to tonight.
