The mother site has a new mock Draft. This one is a two round mock. Of course, the Jets do not have a second round pick thanks to the Antonio Cromartie trade so they are only getting one player in this mock.
30. New York Jets: Kyle Rudolph, TE, Notre Dame. New England's offensive success will make the two-TE offense trendy. Rudolph and Dustin Keller would do wonders for Mark Sanchez's development.
I am sure this will not be popular in some circles, but I think this is innovative, outside the box thinking. It is a different angle replacing either Braylon Edwards or Santonio Holmes. There are more weapons in the passing game than at wide receiver. Jerricho Cotchery could slide back into a starting spot. The Jets could covert the matchup problems they caused outside at receiver to inside at tight end.
I have been an advocate of finding another strong pass catcher at tight end for years. If Dustin Keller is difficult for defenses to defend, consider how difficult defending both Keller and another good pass catcher. It is what the Patriots did with great success this season. I know some Jeff Cumberland fans hope he could eventually become this guy, but he is still developing. It might not be worth waiting to find out if a good option falls.
