Jets Sign S Gerald Alexander

I'm happy to report that the Jets have signed some safety depth. It's already been reported that Brodney Pool will be the presumptive starter for Jim Leonhard, but now the Jets have signed Gerald Alexander as a backup. Alexander is 27, a former second round pick by the Detroit Lions out of Boise State. I'm sure Kyle Wilson will be happy to see him. Take the jump for a little more information.

Alexander has started in 30 games, with his best season being in his first. He has 159 career tackles, 4 interceptions, 2 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles. He's become a bit of a journeyman since he was traded to the Jaguars his second year. The most promising bit about Alexander is that he is a real free safety, and he is better at coverage than his Jet counterparts. Let's hope he picks up on the playbook quickly.
