Jenny Vrentas reports many New York Jets sat practice out today hurt.

RBs Shonn Greene (bruised ribs) and LaDainian Tomlinson (knee), WRs Plaxico Burress (personal) and Jeremy Kerley (knee) and LG Matt Slauson (ankle).

TE Shawn Nelson (illness) and S Brodney Pool (ankle) were also not practicing.

For some of these players like Slauson, I wonder whether Rex Ryan is just giving them some extended rest to heal up ailments. For the running backs, there are real questions about their availability for Sunday against the Bills. It would be nice to see Joe McKnight get some extra action, particularly against a team he ran all over a year ago. I think McKnight will be at his best as a change of pace guy whose touches are limited, not necessarily as a guy who has to carry the entire load. Getting LT back as an extra pass protector might calm Mark Sanchez down a bit in the pocket.
