Today I outlined what I consider the major problems the Jets have. These merit some concern because they could derail the season. There is something else I need to note, though. Every other team has problems. Compared with most, the Jets' problems are few and localized.

The Jets also have a lot more strengths than most teams to help mitigate these problems. Rex Ryan struggles with game management. So do a lot of other coaches who do not bring anything close to the table to what Rex brings as far as game planning, motivation, and player development. Mark Sanchez commits too many turnovers. He also makes a lot of plays unlike some other quarterbacks with the turnover bug. The Jets have fantastic corners, which allows them to blitz extra men to help the pass rush and give the safeties some bracket help underneath in coverage.

I said yesterday that every team has issues. The question is which teams can improve and have the coaching to mitigate these problems. The Jets' season is not destined to be great, but they are in better shape than most to get past these issues.
