Bad news, folks. Per Jenny Vrentas, Bryan Thomas is out for the season with a torn achilles. Thomas was carted off the field last night in the Ravens game, and clearly, the results of the MRI are not good. Thomas has quietly had a decent season, neither incredible nor terrible. His backup is Jamaal Westerman, our much heralded DPR that has shown nada. Aaron Maybin will presumably become the new backup OLB to Westerman.
Garrett McIntyre, the backup to our other OLB, Calvin Pace, is also day-to-day with a concussion. When it rains, it pours.
This makes two achilles injuries (see Jeff Cumberland) in one week, following two losses to the Ravens and the Raiders. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Jets re-sign OLB Mathias Berning to the practice squad, or perhaps even the active roster. I'll keep updating as we get more information, but this is not a good sign of things to come. Tell us below what you think the FO should do.
