As the trade deadline draws near, there is no shortage of trade rumors. There have been two names linked to the Jets. Of course none of these rumors are credible, but interesting none the less. Both of these guys are pass rushers. A bona fide pass rusher is something we have desired for a long time. Both guys are, or will be soon, in their 30s.
Robert Mathis is the 1st guy we have been linked to, for trade talks. There isn't a doubt in the world about Mathis' pass rushing ability. So far this season, Mathis has accumulated 3.5 sacks, and a forced fumble. He's on pace for around 9 sacks this season. Mathis is a speed freak. He also has a killer spin move to the inside that every tackle needs to worry about. Mathis is 30. How many quality healthy years does he have left? What do you guys think and appropriate price is for Mathis.
Jared Allen is the 2nd guy being whispered with our name. Allen is 29, and still killing it out there. After 6 games, he already has 9.5 sacks, an interception, and a forced fumble. He is what we call, a beast. The rumored asking price is a 2nd round pick. How true that is, can't be known. I for one would be willing to part with a 2nd round pick for Mr. Allen. What would you be willing to give up for Jared Allen?
