I'm going to turn it over to the fantastic Jets site, nyjetscap.com to take a look at where the Jets stand today.
Jets Cap states Gang Green currently has 51 players under contract and the team's current cap number as $117,576,842.
Right now five starters (Braylon Edwards, Steve Weatherford, Shaun Ellis, Brondey Pool, and Tony Richardson) are going to be unrestricted free agents. Two reserves who play significant roles (Wayne Hunter and Trevor Pryce) are as well. Four starters (Santonio Holmes, David Harris, Nick Folk, and Antonio Cromartie) will be restricted free agents. Five reserves (Robert Turner, Drew Coleman, Eric Smith, Brad Smith, and James Ihedigbo) who play signifinicant roles are going to be restricted free agents.
Unrestricted free agents can sign with any other team. The Jets may tender a one year offer to restricted free agents at various levels. They may sign with other teams, but the Jets have the right to match any offer. If the Jets decline to match an offer, they will receive a Draft pick from the other team corresponding to the amount of the one year tender they made. Under the old CBA, there were tender amounts for the round in which the player was drafted, a second round pick, a first round pick, and first and third round picks together. This is subject to the new CBA.
