Jason Taylor Has a Concussion; Will Play Against Pittsburgh Steelers

New, comments

There is a bit of bad news about Jason Taylor, but it will not affect his status for Sunday.

Jets pass rusher Jason Taylor sat out the team’s first practice in preparation for the AFC Championship at Pittsburgh but has been cleared by doctors to play Sunday night.

Rex Ryan said Wednesday that Taylor was injured at some point during the Jets’ 28-21 win at New England last Sunday, and felt the effects of it later that night. Ryan said he expects Taylor to practice Thursday after he passed medical tests and is "ready to roll."

Taylor had the huge tackle for a safety in the fourth quarter of the first meeting between the teams. That tackle took away Pittsburgh's chances to tie it with a field goal on the last drive.

JT has not really been the consistent pass rusher the Jets were hoping to land, but he can erase any disappointment with a big game Sunday. His excellent play as a run defender should also help the Jets against Rashard Mendenhall.
