The Jets claimed wide receiver Patrick Turner from Miami according to Jenny Vrentas.

Without Santonio Holmes in the early going and after cutting Laveranues Coles, the Jets are thin at receiver behind Braylon Edwards and Jerricho Cotchery. Brad Smith and David Clowney have not produced in the position in the NFL.
To be honest, I have never been very high on Turner. At the very least, he might be able to provide insider information on Miami's offense ahead of the Week 3 game. I'm sure the 49 receptions, 741 yards, and 10 touchdowns he caught at USC in 2008 with Mark Sanchez as the starting quarterback had something to do with this move. The two had good chemistry.
Turner isn't very fast. He does have a very big frame at 6'5" and 220 pounds. He only played in 2 games last year and had no catches. Teams usually don't just give up on third round picks after one year unless the experience was very, very bad. As Football Outsiders said in a Q and A with SB Nation's The Phinsider:
Any idea with you guys what the heck happened to Patrick Turner? Man, does that look like a mistake.
This move is a low risk one that won't really hurt, but the odds probably aren't too great that it will help.
