Kris Jenkins took a swipe at an unnamed former teammate in an interview with NFL Network last night.
"We have great guys who have come in to step up and fill in a void of some of the big losses that we have had this (offseason)," Jenkins said. "In some other cases, we’ve had some real men come in and step in for the women that we lost. So we're going to be okay. Don’t worry about it."
Something tells me the woman remark isn't in reference to Thomas Jones or Alan Faneca. It probably is pointing at the former free safety with a reputation for playing soft.
I'll never be in favor of a trade in which a team sells low and gets 40 cents on the dollar. With that said, it doesn't seem like Rhodes has too many defenders in the locker room. Normally you would at least hear some kind of grumbling even if it is anonymous as it was when Jones was released. I haven't heard anybody step up for Rhodes. It seems like the team viewed the move as an addition by subtraction in terms of chemistry.
Rhodes doesn't seem to think Jenkins was talking about him.
why's that? Why u think that's me? And he said women not a woman look into stuff all the way
While Kerry's knowledge of grammar is clearly excellent, I'd wager Jenkins was only talking about him. That's a tough spot for Rhodes. I understand why he would play dumb. What can he really say in response? Getting into a fight with a Twitter account when you're a public figure isn't really a mature way to handle a problem. He probably knows, though.
Jenkins continued:
"Suck it up," Jenkins said, laughing. "New York fans, we love you… If we win, then you get all your dreams come true. If we lose, then you get to do what you’ve been doing for a long time and talk about us until you basically run us out of the city. So you’re going to get what you want either way. But we’re going for a Super Bowl. So sit back, enjoy the ride. We’re planning on doing it big."
You have to love a guy who cares about the fans enough to address us like that.
