The Jets have announced the signing of kicker Clint Stitser according to a press release:
The New York Jets have signed free agent kicker Clint Stitser. The announcement was made by Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.
Stitser (K/6-1/200/Fresno State/Reno, NV) played four seasons at Fresno State University (2004-2007) where he scored 223 points on 37-of-52 field goals (71.2 %) and connected on 112-of-118 extra point attempts. Stitser was out of football in 2008 and 2009.
Out of football in 2008 and 2009, so it's been three years since he has kicked in a game. A bit of camp fodder at most it seems. There is little say about Stistser really. He was a solid if unspectacular kicker at Fresno. He has a decent not great leg. He excelled in the classroom and was a finalist for the Wuerffel Award. which is given to the top football player who excels on the field in the classroom and in the community.
It's a signing that fails to scream "problem solved."
