Gang Green Nation Community Mock Draft Pick #25

At the plate now are the Ravens, Rex Ryan's former team, represented by GreeneMachine23.

With the twenty-fifth pick in the Gang Green Nation Community Mock Draft, GreeneMachine23 picks for the Baltimore Ravens...

Jermaine Gresham

Since the Ravens aquired Anquan Boldin from the Cardinals and signed questionable Donte Stallworth this offseason, they are pretty much set on the WR position. They also addressed the d-line situation by adding Cory Redding with a 2-year deal. With veteran TE Todd Heap aging, it makes the most sense to get a big 6-6 285 lbs. TE. This will make Flacco a very happy man after not being able to pass the ball last year. No offense to Derrick Mason, but they just had no receivers last year and had relied on Ray Rice most of the time. Gresham will fit perfectly into this offense, and his quickness will make it difficult for certain LB to cover him. It will be an advantage for the Ravens if they put a corner or safety on him because of his size.

Although Gresham did have a knee injury last year scouts say they could not even tell at the Combine and workout performances. He will be fine to go for the OTAs. Now the Ravens will have a much more balanced attack with Flacco behind center, Ray Rice in the backfield, and a star reciever in Boldin. Stick them with Stallworth, Mason, and Gresham, and they are going to be a tough team to defend.

My reaction:

As GreeneMachine said, they added weapons for Joe Flacco at receiver earlier in the offseason. Now they have the chance to give him a safety blanket at tight end in Gresham. He will be able to come along at his own pace with Heap still in the lineup. Part of me says this pick should be defense. Baltimore makes its living on the front seven. Adding depth in the form of Mount Cody, Jared Odrick, or Jerry Hughes would be a great move. Even so, I like this pick.

What do you think? Did GreeneMachine23 make the right choice?
