Jets Preseason Schedule Announced!

New, comments

Both New York teams will play in the first ever football game at the New Meadowlands.

Per Eric Allen of NewYorkJets.com:

The New York Jets are going to be Monday Night darlings in 2010. They’ll kick off the regular season at the New Meadowlands Stadium with a nationally televised Monday Night game on ESPN, and it has just been announced today that the Green & White will host the crosstown Giants on ESPN on Monday night, Aug. 16, in Week 1 of the preseason.

The last time the Jets and Giants played in the first preseason week was 1983.  The Jets have won 12 of the last 14 games in this summer series.

The preseason schedule was released today, and is as follows:

Week 1: NY Giants @ NY Jets

Week 2: NY Jets @ Carolina Panthers

Week 3: Washington Redskins @ NY Jets

Week 4: NY Jets @ Philadelphia Eagles

The Giants are scheduled to play the first regular season game at the stadium.  With all the bickering about who gets the rights to open the stadium, it seemed like a foregone conclusion that both teams would play each other in Game 1.
