Because of the contract money the Jets paid him up front, Antonio Cromartie was able to pay off his child support.
Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie has paid a child-support debt in the range of $25,000-$50,000 to the mother of one of his seven children, according to a report in the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Cromartie was due in court next week so a judge could evaluate his financial situation in the wake of past-due child support payments. That court date has been taken off the calendar, according to the report.
There were a lot of good reasons for the Jets to help their new player out. Probably none was more important at least from a business perspective than getting this distraction to go away, and getting Antonio's focus back on football.
