According to the official team website, S Eric Smith has signed his tendered contract as a restricted free agent:
The Jets announced Thursday that veteran S Eric Smith has signed his tendered contract. Smith, a third-round pick out of Michigan State in 2006, is beginning his fifth season with the Green &White.
Last year, E. Smith was a valuable special teams performer who registered 23 tackles. He also started four games defensively, collecting 34 tackles, 6 PDs and one interception. The 6’1", 205-pounder has appeared in 55 career games, having started 14 contests with four picks and 17 PDs.
Rod Boone says he will earn $1.176 million. Rich Cimini reports that Smith should be there next week to start the off-season.
