GGN Staff Picks

The staff of GGN is making its picks for this afternoon.

John:

The Jets can match up as well as anybody against the Chargers. Revis may be the best player in the secondary, but Lito Sheppard and Dwight Lowery are excellent second and third corners. Kerry Rhodes had perhaps his best game of the season against Atlanta covering Tony Gonzalez. He is one of the few players capable of at least containing Gates. The Jets also have a fierce pass rush that relentlessly attacks quarterbacks and forces early throws. They should also be able to pound the ball on San Diego's front and control the clock. As long as Sanchez continues to be smart with the football, New York has a shot at pulling the upset. I think they match up better with San Diego's offensive strength (throwing) than the Chargers do with Gang Green's offensive strength (running). Call me a homer, but I'll take the Jets in a 17-13 upset.

David:

Jets 24-20 Chargers

Game could go either way but if Sanchez protects the football and doesn't turn it over then we come away with the win. Their strength plays into our strength, but we should be able to run on them. Will need to get pressure and spy the screens, but we are more than capable of doing that, and if anyone can put a defensive game plan together to combat a high octane defence it's Rex Ryan with the #1 pass defence in the league. Think that Braylon is due a big one, and the play action should open up some holes. San Diego will pass on us, and they will achieve some level of success, but if we can continue to get them into 3rd and long situations then we should have success. Important aspect is to get off the field after 3rd downs, can't be giving up 3rd down completions. Again anything could happen, but we can take the win here.

Matt:

This team is suddenly energized and has been playing with a chip on its shoulder. I don't know if its for Casey, I don't know if its Rex, but on Sunday you will hear "J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!!!!!!" Jets 23, Bolts 21

Russ:

Chargers 23-21. Antonio Gates will be the Jets' biggest problem. To win, the Jets must be not trailing by more than a TD at the end of the first quarter and never trailing by more than ten points at any time in the game.

Those are our picks. Give us your pick.
