The defense handled the offense with ease on goal line drills
Rex Ryan's high praise for the Jets defense appeared warranted after an impressive showing during goal-line drills Tuesday morning. The defense -- playing without tackle Kris Jenkins (calf) -- easily out-performed the offense in the short-yardage situations, repeatedly stuffing the running game.
Very encouraging news. On paper the defensive line looks thin. If the unit handled the offensive line without Jenkins in short yardage situations (obviously goal line defense is all about trench play), it might mean the Jets are in better shape than we thought.
You can't see getting whipped by the defense as an indictment of the offensive line. We know how good they are, especially power run blocking. They'll be fine as long as everybody is healthy.
