San Diego recently cut versatile linebacker Matt Wilhelm. Jets Confidential suggests picking him up.
Matt Wilhelm, a former starter in San Diego, who is in his prime at the age of 28, is now on the street. With Calvin Pace out the first four games, and the Jets a little thin at linebacker depth, perhaps they should sign Wilhelm.
Forget about Pace's suspension for a moment. Just think about how little depth the Jets have at the position. If something happens to either Bart Scott or David Harris, who becomes the starter? Wilhelm has experience both inside and outside in the 3-4. He could serve as replacement for David Bowens' jack of all trades backup role and push Bryan Thomas.
