Jets stadium sideline reporter Jenn Sterger will not return in 2009 because she wants to pursue an acting career.
IT looks like Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez will have one fewer target this season. Buxom brunette Jenn Sterger (above), who served as the team's sideline reporter last season, is leaving her post to pursue a career as an actress. Sterger, who first drew attention as a cheerleader at FSU, recently finished a role in "Don't Fade Away" with Mischa Barton. She'll also be guest bartending at the Hill in Murray Hill tomorrow.
One of the most irritating elements of sports in recent years is the increase of "in-game entertainment" at stadiums. Does there always need to be something distracting during a timeout like Sterger asking kids questions? Why can't fans be left to their own accord to discuss and think about the game? There did not seem to be a reason to have this segment. The team should probably let it exit with its founder.
Hiring Sterger seemed like kind of a publicity stunt anyway. She has developed a following ever since ABC showed her and a couple of friends on camera during a 2005 game at her alma mater of Florida State. That led to some magazine shoots and a weekly article on Sports Illustrated's website.
