While Mark Sanchez might turn into a great player, the Jets would have to part with an awful lot of picks to hand the franchise to a risky commodity.
Remember three years ago when Reggie Bush was the flavor of the month, the slam dunk of the Draft? Some criticized the Jets for not doing more to move up. In hindsight, Bush has been relatively unremarkable as a pro. To get him, the Jets would have likely needed to part with picks that turned into D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Nick Mangold and picks the team leveraged to land David Harris and Thomas Jones a year later.
Just because a guy looks flashy today doesn't ultimately make him the right pick. Just a thought for those who might be upset if the team does not pay through the nose to get Mark Sanchez.
