Staff Takes Shape

Via NY Post

The Jets yesterday confirmed Brian Schottenheimer will return as offensive coordinator and hired two assistants for Rex Ryan's new staff. They added Jim O'Neil as defensive quality control coach and Jeff Weeks as a defensive assistant.

O'Neil, a graduate of Towson University in 2001, spent the last three seasons serving as recruiting coordinator and safeties coach at Eastern Michigan University. A native of Philadelphia, he played at Central Bucks West High School, where Jets defensive coordinator Mike Pettine was an assistant coach, and was later a three-year starter as a defensive end at Towson.

Weeks, a graduate of Northwest Oklahoma State in 1986, was a defensive assistant for the Raiders in 2008. Weeks, a 22-year coaching veteran, coached with Ryan at Morehead State (1990-91) and at Oklahoma (1998). A wide receiver in college, he was a roommate and teammate of Rex and Rob Ryan at Southwest Oklahoma State before transferring and graduating from Northwest Oklahoma State.
