Linebackers coach Jim Hermann is not heading to Cleveland but instead to the Giants to serve in the same capacity.
Herrmann, 48, replaces Bill Sheridan, who Monday was named the Giants' defensive coordinator after Steve Spagnuolo left to become the head coach of the St. Louis Rams.
The 3-4 is a linebacker driven system, and the Jets struggled in Hermann's three years on defense. However, he does get one major gold star. As David Harris' former defensive coordinator at the University of Michigan, the powers that be probably received a ringing endorsement prior to their selection. He gets a lot of credit for the Jets landing a star in the making.
