Remembering the Titans

Dave Hutchinson reports the Jets will don the blue uniforms of the New York Titans on Sunday. The team was known as the Titans in the old AFL from 1960 until 1962. The team name then changed to the Jets partially at least because the new home venue, Shea Stadium was near LaGuardia Airport.

This move is only done to sell merchandise, but it is a nice tip of the cap to the franchise's heritage on the weekend when Shea will close its doors (unless the Mets make the postseason). The blue uniforms also look sharp.

The Jets wore the Titans throwbacks last season in a home game against the Eagles and a road game against the Dolphins.
