The Adrien Robinson era is over. Signed to a futures contract back in January, the 6' 5", 265 pound former New York Giant tight end has been released by the New York Jets before ever taking a practice snap. Ah well. Coo coo cachoo, Mr. Robinson. Adrien has left and gone away. Hey hey hey.
To take the place of Mr. Robinson on the roster the Jets have signed former Montana State cornerback Bryson Keeton, a recent attendee of the Jets rookie minicamp as a tryout player. Apparently the tryout went well. Keeton is a 6' 1", 195 pound cornerback with middling speed in the 4.6 40 range, who likes to keep the play in front of him and doesn't mind sticking his helmet in there at the line. I'm not sure Keeton projects as a Todd Bowles press cornerback; he may be better suited to add a few pounds to his frame and play safety.
Here's a highlight film of Keeton. You can judge for yourself. Keep in mind this is a highlight film; i.e., all his bad plays have been mercifully edited out, so we don't really get to see what he can't do, but we do get to see a little bit of what he can do.
Keeton was third on his Montana State team in tackles in 2015 with 77, and ranked 29th in the FCS in passes defended with 14.
