Slauson had been recently released by the Chicago Bears. He spent three seasons in Chicago after starting his career with the Jets. A 2009 sixth round selection out of Nebraska, Slauson was a three year starter at left guard in New York.
Since the Jets have a need at guard, some wondered whether the Jets would show any interest. It does not appear they had any. Slauson was gone before the current front office and coaching staff were hired by the Jets so any past ties were gone.
The Buffalo Bills were the team other than Chicago to have reported interest in the veteran offensive lineman. There will be no reunion with Rex Ryan or return to the AFC East for Slauson, though.
