As we approach the season, we are going to count down the history of Jets jersey numbers along with some of the notable players to wear each number. Today we will look at number 95.
Some numbers lack a storied history. Number 95 is one of them. The player with the highest AV wearing number 95 for the Jets was Rick Lyle. It wasn't even close either.
Lyle played five seasons for the Jets. He came to New York after spending the first three years of his career in the Cleveland/Baltimore organization, where he signed as an undrafted free agent. He started 65 games over those five seasons and recorded 10 sacks. Lyle spent the last two seasons of his career in New England, where he won a Super Bowl. He returned to the Jets from 2006 through 2009 as an assistant strength and conditioning coach under head coach Eric Mangini.
