This is going to be kinda weird but I'm to digress in my opening sentence... Mo Wilk is kinda undeservedly deified by many of the current Jets fandom. I don't have any quantifiable stats to justify my digression, its just a feel (and a fact). Mo Wilk seems to kinda have a Rex-like teflon. Any critique of the guy seems to be met with a strong emotional rebuttal. But that's cool... Mo's a cool guy... decent player... He's just not as good as Sheldon.
We all saw Sheldon explode onto the scene last year. It was clear from the outset that Boss Hog was the more physically gifted, higher motored, more intelligent player. This isn't even debatable. In Wilk's rookie season he had 49 tackles, 3 sacks, and a forced fumble. In Sheldon's rookie season he had 78 tackles, 3.5 sacks, a forced fumble and 10.5 TFLs. Basically... Sheldon had 30 more tackles than Wilk when comparing their rookie seasons. Not 10. Not 20. 30 more tackles. In fact, Wilk has never in his career eclipsed 70 tackles.
Most would say that Mo is a top 5 interior DL. Logical folks would say that Sheldon is better than Mo. If Mo is top 5 and Sheldon is even better, then havoc will be wreaked upon all opponents for the next few years.
