The Jets have used their 3rd round selection (80th pick overall) on CB Dexter McDougle from Maryland. This is not a name many Jets fans were familiar with or were expecting to go in the 3rd round.
My personal take on the pick: Color me extremely underwhelmed. NFL and CBS both projected McDougle as a 6th or even 7th round pick. McDougle is small, short, and has unimpressive speed. I'm assuming Rex or the Jets scouting sees something they really like in Dexter McDougle, but I was personally surprised to see a prospect who was arguably a consensus late round pick to get taken this early. I personally don't think there was any threat of McDougle being taken in the 3rd round. At best, McDougle projects as a slot CB at his size.
