Though in his early thirties, Andre Johnson is still very much a top tier wide receiver in the NFL.
Johnson is reportedly "furious" with the Texans after the draft this past weekend. Johnson acknowledged that in his 11 year career he has only been to the playoffs twice, so when the Texans did little to address their offense in the draft, he wasn't pleased. Despite drafting Tom Savage, it is very possible that the Texans starting QB this year is journeyman Ryan Fitzpatrick. Even though the Texans defense could be scary this year, their offense will be shaky.
Because of this, Johnson is planning on sitting out of optional team activities, and might be willing to go farther than that (training camp?). I have read early reports that the Browns and Raiders are interested in trading for Johnson. However, I've read NOTHING about the Jets having any interest.
I know we drafted three receivers, but the idea of Andre Johnson starting opposite Decker is pretty appealing to me. The younger guys can probably learn a lot from him as well...added bonus.
Obviously the Texans would not want to lose him, but teams tend to not like dealing with things like this, and there does not seem to be a quick fix to make him happy, so he might be able to be had at a good price.
So, what do you guys think?
