According to ESPN, Brandon Thomas tore his ACL working out last week.
Thomas was considered a second or third round pick and one of the better interior OL in the draft. After tearing his ACL, I imagine that he will be lost for the season or at the minimum, miss all of OTAs, rookie camp and training camp.
Due to the number of draft picks the Jets have in this draft and their need on the OL, Thomas makes a lot of sense with a comp pick. I assume his draft stock will plummet on this news, which makes him a high value selection for the Jets. Plus, knowing there is no way that 12 rookies can make the roster, drafting Thomas would enable the Jets to grab a kid later in the draft (due to injury) and IR him for the season. If he recovers, he could be the replacement for Colon next year, if not, not a ton of risk to use a 5th or 6th rounder on him.
