As one of the many Jews here on GGN I just want to use this thread to acknowledge Holocaust Remembrance Day - commemorating the 6 million Jews and the tens of millions who were murdered during the Holocaust. I, like many others here, had many relatives who either died or suffered immensely during that unforgiving time.
This isn't really a football post but I would like to acknowledge that events like the Holocaust begin with something as simple as calling other people names, treating them differently based of what they believe and especially not coming to the aid of people who are being bullied - jokingly or malignantly.
We may all be a ragtag group of students, professionals, along with some dudes and dudettes with too much time on their hands - but here at GGN we're a community. We stick together, we support each other through thick and thin.
But by that same token, we don't go around insulting, starting fights or Heaven forbid threatening others because they don't believe what we believe. We respect others because every man, woman and child on this Earth is entitled to basic respect and decency.
You don't have to agree with everyone, and you certainly don't have to take being insulted by someone else with a different belief sitting down. But don't embrace hate - embrace dialogue, embrace conversation and camaraderie in the form of looking to the future or even making silly bets on the next game or the next big thing.
We're a community because we love the Jets, and we also love the game - every element of it, from the game-winning drive to the crippling defeat that makes us want to burn clothing.
So use this day: Apologize to someone you've wronged, or make amends with someone who has wronged you - because grudges only lead to terrible things. And if we're so focused on our grudge, it makes the things we love that much harder to enjoy.
Thank you all for your time.
