Everyone and their mother has the 3 consensus QBs of the draft gone around the top 10 picks of the draft.. It got me thinking, what if one of them were available to us at pick 18. Side note: theres also a myth that teams picking in the 20s do not need a QB, a few of them either might have small interest or may want to start planning for life without their guy, see Arizona at pick 20, Cincinnatti at pick 22 as Dalton cannot win a playoff game, onbiosuly the browns at 26, maybe the saints at 27 as Brees will be 35, and NE at 29 even though we'd never trade with them. These teams may have interest, not to mention several other teams that may have stuck to their board and chose Clowney or Robinsion or Mack with the first few picks and see great value to trade back into the 1st round for their QB, or hope he falls to them in the second like Geno did last year.
scenario 1: For example, lets say Johnny football is on the board and Houston chose Jadeveon Clowney with the first overall pick but had Manziel as the 6th best player on their board and they propose a trade with us to get the 18th pick and take the Texas QB. If they proposed the 33rd (1st pick in 2nd round) and their 1st round pick next year, I'd pull the trigger as we may still be able to take Allen Robinson, Bradley Roby, Benjamin, Lee, ext...
scenario 2: Bridgewater is available at 18 and the Browns want to trade for him because they also stuck to their board and took Sammy Watkins. They now wanna provide him and Gordon with someone that can get them the ball. They propose the 26th selection, their 4th round pick and Jabaal Sheard. Id take this deal in a second because not only do we still get a first round pick before NE, many of the players we're interested in should be available at 26. Sheard gives us a strong rush off the edge to go with Coples as well as more firepower in the 4th to maybe jump back into the second.
scenario 3: Lets say that the 49ers give us a call for the 18th pick because they want Kelvin Benjamin and they think he'd put their offense over the top and launch them to the Superbowl. They propose the 30th overall selection and one of their 2 2nd round pick (56 overall). Id also take this deal in a second.
What do you think and what draft scenarios do you think can happen draft day with regards to the Jets?
