Mark Sanchez: His time has come. I don't think this needs any explanation. Let the Raiders or Vikings or whoever else have him. He tried his best for us, he did, and he was alway a nice guy, but he needs a change in scenery.
Santonio Holmes: Yes he had his antics, yes he had a few unprofessional moments, but all in all I think he was scapegoated a bit. That being said this is a horrible contract and he needs to go.
Antonio Cromartie: This one i struggled on for a bit, i mean, think of his 12 children! who will feed them all?! Seriously though, i think he still can be solid but I think its just time for us to get younger. The Raiders or maybe the Eagles would be a good destination for him.
Ben Ijalana: I forgot he was on this team and it saves us 900k. He can be replaced by someone younger with more upside.
Cap Space after cuts: $48 Million
Austin Howard: 4 years, 17 Million (7 Million Guaranteed): He was solid last year, very good right tackle and deserves a new contract that pays him like one.
Jeff Cumberland: 3 years, 8 Million (2 Million Guaranteed): I think he takes the corner this year as the jets receiving TE. I give him this contract with only the first year guaranteed so this could effectively be looked at as a 1 year, 2 million (Breakdown of contract is 2/2.5/3.5). He shows he can do it? great. If not? Next years draft we look at tight ends.
Leger Douzable: 2 years, 2 million: Did a good job in a supporting role last year. If he'll come, ill definitely take him back.
Ellis Lankster: 2 years, 2 Million: Decent nickel and a all-pro special teamer. Sign me up if he's willing to come back. I hear the browns are taking a good look at him though for their nickel and they can give him more time at corner so he may spurn us for more playing time.
Ed Reed: Vet Minimum: If you question him coming back, i question you. Every single defensive back got better the second he came to the jets. Allen and Milliner especially, i don't care if we have to play him 40% of the snaps he NEEDS to come back. His teaching role in my opinion is absolutely crucial.
Nick Bellore: Vet Minimum: Good back up, good special teamer, wants to be here.
Garrett McIntyre: Vet Minimum: I'm iffy on him. Plays with heart but he's back up. We can get cheaper with a late rounder or a undrafted FA.
Isaiah Trufant: Vet Minimum: great gunner for special teams and can cover slots well. He'll be back.
Darrin Walls: He had both his good moments and his bad moments last season. I'd say he did enough to earn his way into camp.
Cap space after Re-Signs: about $38 Million
Golden Tate (WR/Seahawks): 5 years, 27 Million (11 Million Guaranteed): After watching tape, he is not only underrated but i really like his blocking ability. Really gives it all on every play. He wants to be back in Seattle however and is willing to give them a discount to be able to stay. Not sure if they'll give him a contract though. If he does return to Seattle, giving Hakeem Nicks a 1 year, 5 million prove it deal would make a lot of sense.
Paul McQuistan (G/Seahawks): 2 years, 3.5 Million: Someone to compete with Winters. Idzik knows him and i would trust him to start if he did beat Winters out. God is he ugly though. He takes Vlad's place as king ugly.
Michael Vick (QB/Eagles): 1 year, 3 Million: Out of all the veteran free agent QB's is there anyone that would actually be good enough to actually give Geno a run for his money or even beat him out? Also we'd need one that the fan base would be okay with seeing going to battle for us. The only guy i see that could do that is Vick.
Sidney Rice (WR/Seahawks): 1 year, Vet Minimum: As a trial thing, why not. Used to be a solid #1 receiver for the Vikings and a good possession guy. Anyone who says anything about Kenny Britt being a better option needs almost as much psychological help as he does.
Cap space after free agency: about $12 Million
Draft (5 round):
Round 1) Odell Beckham Jr. (WR/LSU): he's a burner, playmaker, can make tough catches, runs good routes but is a little undersized. I can see Brandin Cooks or Marqise Lee being the pick as well.
Round 2) Jeremiah Attaochu (OLB/Georgia Tech): Aggressive passrusher that we need. Looks like a Rex player.
Round 3) Donte Moncrief (WR/Ole Miss): Really talented, a favorite of mine. Would be a great pick up as a possession receiver.
Round 3) Ed Reynolds (FS/Stanford): Ed Reed's understudy. Can see him as a great center fielder and could even start out of the gate.
Round 4) Dri Archer (RB/Kent State): Offensive Weapon. Can do wildcat, Running back and slot receiver. Very impressive combine.
Round 5) Rashaad Reynolds (CB/Oregon State): Physical, Aggressive, good technique, i could see him being a upscale starter down the line.
Round 5) Justin Britt (OT/Missouri): After getting depth for guard, our depth for tackle is limited. This should help.
