Lets be honest even before Jeremy Maclin was resigned by the Eagles this years wr,te and rb free agents were nothing to get excited about and with the Jets having an estimated $50 million in cap room it don't make sense to over pay skill position players that are not going to drastically change our offense. So I present this scenario lets not totally neglect the offense there we reports a few weeks ago that surfaced the Jets were interested in Emanuel Saunders he would come at a fairly reasonable contract and solidify a veteran presence to our offense and be our immediate # 2 wr going into next season.
But with still a boat load of money to spend this would be exactly how to solidify one side of the ball it has been reported Brian Orapko and Jaryrius Byrd wil hit the free agent market with our defense already being one of the best in the league adding Orapko would give the Jets the pass rusher they have coveted since Rex was hired. With questions at the free safety spot for the Jets Byrd would step in and be the ball hawk that's been missing since Kerry Rhodes. Along with restructing Cromartie the Jets could put together a defense that can be not good but great.
With this plan it now allows the Jets to go into the draft that is filled with talent at wr and te to add a young core to grow with 2nd year quarterback Geno Smith. With the Jets having up to 12 picks in this years draft it will give Gm John Idzick plenty of flexibility if he wants to pull off a trade for a player he covets. If a draft of
Round 1 Marquse Lee
Round 2 Austin Sefrian-Jenkins
Round 3 Donte Moncrief
Round 3 Charles Sims
Round 4 De Anthony Thomas
Round 5 Colt Lyelra
This approach would make the Jets a team that would have a elite defense with a offense that is young with incredible potential on offense.
