We all have our favorite players we hope will break out, these are mine
NT Kenrick Ellis - Damon Harrison mans the starting job but when called upon last year he proved he a more than capable starter. If he's given more time on the field, he could break out and become not only a huge run stuffing NT, but also represent a strong presence in terms of an interior pass rush, something we haven't had since Kris Jenkins in 2008.
FS Antonio Allen - When drafted, he was considered a second round pick in some circles and I really think he has the ability to become a playmaker in the back end our defense with coverage and ball hawing ability.
QB Geno Smith - Say what you want, but he had absolutely nothing to work with in his rookie year and we still managed to go 8-8. With another off season working with Morningweig and added weapons (Decker and hopefully a WR or TE in the draft, or both), I think he'll prove a steal when we drafted him. With Vick pushing him, I think he'll be able to realize his potential and become a lethal weapon passing and scrambling when the pocket breaks down.
DE/OLB Quinton Coples - He has largely ineffective last season as a stand up rusher, but it was first year at that position. With another offseason to refine his technique, I think he'll be a very pleasant surprise on defense with more than 8 to 10 sacks.
What do you think? Do you agree/ disagree? Who do you think will breakout?
