So, this whole free agency business has got me to thinking:
Should the Jets be making some trades? It's true, we don't have a lot of trade bait in terms of players. We have a lot of draft picks, but we're mostly stacked in late rounders and un-trade-able compensatory picks. Those are usually only good for a depth guy or to move up in the draft. Nonetheless, I figured it couldn't hurt to start a thread with some interesting trade suggestions and bounce ideas off each other. I'll start:
Trade: RB Mike Goodson, 4th and 6th Round Draft Pick
to Washington for: RB Alfred Morris
Now, I already know what the first criticism will be: "No way! He's been a beast his whole career, he's super young, why would Washington do that?" Well, he's also not a system fit as Washington needs a back that can catch out of the backfield and Morris is not that back. Further, as evidenced by the hot-off-the-presses report of their effort to trade for Sproles, they realize this and are taking it seriously. Lastly, they don't have a first round pick and Mike Goodson, while not as good as Sproles, is a cheaper pass-catching option that, in this trade, would net them two new draft picks (albeit late round).
I think if we're going to roll out Geno or some scrub FA QB for yet another season, we need to upgrade the backfield. A one-two punch of Morris and Ivory would be absolutely brutal and given the position that Washington is in (and the fact that it is Washington we're talking about), I don't think this trade is that far-fetched.
Anyway, that's my suggestion. What are some of your suggestions?
