Darrelle Revis, one of my favorite players, playing on the team I hate the most- the Patriots. Its a thought that I can not seem to process and even when I see him in the red and blue of New England it still won’t feel real to me. I have not had any love for any player to ever wear a Patriots jersey but that is not the case with Revis.
Revis is a talented football player but he is an even better business man. He still managed to be the highest paid corner in the league even after being cut for refusing to take a pay cut. As mad as I am to see Revis sign with Tom Brady’s team there is still a positive in this. He is only signed for one year, meaning next March the Jets will have a chance to take Revis back. Woody Johnson is most likely un willing to re-sign the former Jets star due to the history of issues they had when discussing contract disputes. No matter how high the price Revis demands, the Jets should be willing to pay it or at least keep him the highest paid corner because that salary is not just paying for Darrelle’s services, but it is also paying to keep him off our biggest competition’s roster. That alone is worth every dollar. I think Revis’ best interest in signing that $12 million contract was the money, but it was also to tell the Jets that next year when he is a free agent again not to let him walk away because if they do, he will haunt gang green at least twice a year for a very long time.
My question to you all is, would you pay Revis what he wants to have him on the Jets or would you rather watch him help New England win more division titles?
